Back To School

It's back to school day in the JafaHouse and I'm back to blogging (at least for!
I asked the kids if there was anything they were excited or nervous about. Abbey is loving that she has a teacher that is new to the school. We met her at back to school night and Mrs. F seems like a fun teacher with lots of energy! Abe is worried he will forget what classroom to go to. This will be his fifth year at that school. So, I just had to roll my eyes at that one. He is so like his mother...poor kid! Whatever their day brings I will be praying for them & finding comfort in knowing they are in the Lord's hands.
My summer has not been filled with much craftiness but I did manage to whip out a few quick teacher and bus driver gifts over the weekend. Okay, I made cute tags for the gift but still....
I found both these ideas on Pinerest... Here & here.
For the lettering I used stickers. The apple is from Cricut Preserves cartridge and the bus is from their Autumn Celebrations.
And a back to school post would not be complete without the coveted first day picture. Oh how they make their mama proud!
Okay this is a little better...
Hope you all have a beautifully blessed day!

My 9 year old was debating with me on how to pronounce paparazzi. The little smarty pants still won't admit sometimes his mama is right. Pronunciation of paparazzi.
No, there is no need to adjust your computer screen. Yes, this is a new post and YES it's a scrapbook page! Scrapbooking was my gateway drug into paper crafting. Somewhere along the way (and thousands of unorganized photos later) it fell to the wayside. It has been over a year since my last layout! So, I'm a bit rusty...for that reason I kept this one fairly simple.
How many of you out there have a loved one that reacts as if you are the paparazzi? My loving husband often holds up his hand at even a hint of getting his picture taken...just makes me want to do it all the more..hehehe.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have a beautiful day!
God Bless!

Hey There Cupcake!

Yesterday was Frank's birthday!  I honored his wishes and didn't make a big production out of it...but I'm always tempted. It's hard not to spoil him because he does so much for our family. I by far have the best husband!
So, we celebrated with a birthday dinner request of steak, steak fries, broccoli (yes folks I said broccoli) and pumpkin pie with coffee for dessert.
I also made him a card featuring my version of a Hostess cupcake using Papertrey's Cupcake Collection stamp set. The card layout was inspired by this card at Simply Stamped .
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
God Bless!

Little Prim Bunny

I found this adorable fabric at one of my favorite primitive shops. It reminds me of  Little House on the Prairie days. Can't you see one of the girls wearing a dress out of this print?
My little bunny project was a self-taught sewing lesson. I'm pretty good with a straight line stitch but if there are any turns forget about it. So, I forced myself to try. After the second try I got the hang of it. The ears were the hardest part and I'm still not happy with how square they turned out.
My pattern came from the image found HERE.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope that the day brings you sunshine & happiness.
God Bless!

Happy New Year~Going & Gone!

You have skirted this mountain long enough; turn northward.
Deuteronomy 2:3 (NKJ)

So, I took December off with the intention of being back here to blog January 1st. Well before too much of January slips away I better get to it...
How many of you made resolutions this year? It seem that no matter where I'm at in my life when December comes to an end I always find myself looking back through the year. Sometimes counting my blessings while other times the focus is on what I would do differently. Though I'm not a big fan of "resolutions" I did jot down a few hopes that I have for my life in 2013 (Lord willing).
1. Eucharisteo~ Giving thanks to God in all things. I've been reading One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. I like her idea of jotting down reminders of God's goodness & mercy as a thanksgiving to Him.
2. Moving More & Eating better~ I've joined Cathy Z's Move More Eat Well class. I hope to reach my weight loss goal by the end of this year.
3. Study God's Word more in depth. This past year I didn't sign up for my usual Community Bible Study. I wanted to see what I could do on my own. Well, it turns out that I need a little more structure in this area. So, I'm joining my friend Phoebe's Bible Study.
4.Spreading Joy~Finding ways to spread some of the love & joy the Lord has giving me.
5. Being more productive with my time. This came from and e-mail "discussion" with my friend Chris. Since I spend most days working at my own pace and schedule I find it very easy to get distracted with other things (Facebook, blog surfing, shopping...etc.). This one may prove to be the hardest for my little ADD brain but if I'm concentrating on the first four hopes for 2013 this one should take care of itself=)...right?
I prefer to calls these my Hopes for 2013 rather then resolutions but either way I think that having a something positive to focus on is always good. I look forward to sharing updates of my Hopes through out the year.
Oh, and the picture of the jars is an idea I got from a swap I was and currently am a part of. One jar (Goin') has stones for each I hope to lose and as I shed them I put them in the Gone jar...where hopefully they will stay=).
I would love to hear what your "hopes" are for 2013....feel free to leave a comment about what your focus for this year will be.
Thank you for stopping by!
God Bless!
